July wheeling in Florida

Postby tangodown » Fri Jul 16, 2010 9:41 pm

I will be in the central Fl area the weekend of July 24th and July 31st. That being said, I was thinking about heading to Citrus or Hard Rock on Sunday the 25th or Saturday/Sunday the 31st and Aug 1st. Im willing to wheel both days if its 7/31-8/01

I have spoke with a few people already, JGBB can wheel Sunday 8/1 (I think), Jeff is open for the weekend of the 31st/1st, and a few others said they are interested also. Anyone have any ideas or input?? Chime in and lets plan a something. Sorry for the short notice.

I'm game for the 31st/1st. We could do an easy ride on Saturday and then do Hard Rock on Sunday. I vote for Wallaby Ranch on Saturday and then maybe saturday afternoon do some trails in Richloom. Wallaby is very close to my house and anyone is welcome to crash at my house Saturday night, since I'll be a bachelor that weekend, and then we can roll out to Hard Rock in the am on Sunday.

I'll post some more info on Wallaby so you guys can check it out.

Wallaby Ranch, 1805 Dean Still Rd. Davenport, FL 33897

Kind of a lame video, but there is not much on line showing the trails.

There is also revolutionoffroad near my house, but I talked with them a few months back and you have to rent one of their jeeps or ATVs to run the trails no personal vehicles. LAME! :wall:

It's looking like the 31st or the 1st is about all that is going to end up working for me right now.

I may take you up on the slumber party... I like the little green mints on my pillow please

Will you have the new suspension in by then?? I can always come up a day early if we need to wrench.

Negative on the suspension setup. They are shipping it as a kit and still waiting on some parts for the in cab controller and they will not ship it until they test all the parts of the kit together. Still about another 30 days from getting the parts.

Would you settle for a stale gummy worm?

Talked with the folks at Wallaby Ranch and here is the deal. They have about 17 miles of trails, but do not advertise it for daily us nor do they regularly maintain it. They will only open up the trails for organized events that have a specific group who is taking responsibiility for the event. They also suggest a weekend or two before the event that the sponsoring group come out and do the necessary trail maintenance and the day off or day after the event they ask that the sposoring group clean up the trails and repair any major damage done.

Lot a work for a quick weekend deal, I am going to talk to them one more time, but Wallaby may be out.

I would be open to hit Wallaby for a change of pace but like you I think it's a ton of work for what it has to offer. Hummer of Orlando had a couple of Happenings there and I was told by people at the dealership who know what I did with my truck not to bother because I would be bored. What about the other place you mentioned or even roaming the forest.

We could always get that "scout" project started !!!! I love those trucks, just dont have time to build one right now. I eyed one for sale in GA for the last 7 years. Late last year I decided to stop and talke to the owner, I had finally decided it was time to bring it home (cash permitting). It was gone, all that was left was the large oil stain in the driveway.

Alexander said he will join us if hes feeling better. So we should have our full camera/video crew on hand :D
