SoCal Cleghorn Ridge - Feb 27, 2010

Cleghorn Ridge 2010

In February we will be heading up to Cleghorn Ridge. This is an awesome trail that is as easy or as hard as you want it to be. The entire trail is a fire road with the hard trail winding back and forth across the fire road. This makes for a great time with fear of being forced to do anything you are uncomfortable with. Club membership is not required, there are no event entrance fees, and all capable vehicles are welcome. Kids are welcome. You are responsible for your own food, gas, etc.

When: February 27, 2010

Where: Cajon, CA

Time: 10am we will be hitting the trail. We will be meeting around 9:30 to air down and get started by 10. Expect a full day of trails so bring a lunch to eat while we wheel.

Meeting Spot: Cleghorn Road exit off of the I-15 just south of Hwy 138. We will all meet under the freeway.

Directions: To get there, take the I-15 north for anyone coming from LA, OC, San Diego areas and exit Cleghorn Road which is about 6 miles north of the I-15 and I-215 merge.

Click on this link to see the location in Google Maps http://maps.google.com/maps?q=34.299312,-117.457014&num=1&sll=33.087856,-117.244821&sspn=0.006295,0.006295&ie=UTF8&ll=34.299965,-117.457033&spn=0.003855,0.006899&z=17&iwloc=A

Trails: Cleghorn Ridge

On Cleghorn there is a main trail which is a well maintained and improved dirt road for the most part - and opportunities at every turn to opt for the more difficult (MUCH more difficult in places) secondary trail. You can get on and off of this optional trail over and over again...so it is an ideal way to learn the capabilities of your rig.

If we get done in time and enough people want to, I will also lead us over to 2N17X. This is a fun and challenging trail that is fairly short, but very worth it. Anyone not wishing to do this trail can simply opt out and take Hwy 138 out to the I-15 as we have to drive a mile down Hwy 138 before getting to 2N17X.

If you want to go just post it here or send me a PM :)

I have another truck to add to the list. Can you add my friend Matt in his Suburban?
A fullsize shouldnt be any trouble on these trails right?

Easy at you want or as difficult as you want. Unless his rig is modified, he will most likely loose sight of most of us when we take off throught the rough stuff.

The fire roads you could take a Prius through, maybe

All are welcome :yup: (Unless you are arse then you can stay home. Wait, I'm an arse, never mind)

He should be alright for most of it. With his long wheelbase and wide body, he has to understand that there is always a possibility of damage. Although the hard stuff is all optional, you don't know what to expect until you are on that section. As long as he takes it easy he should be fine.
