HID Lamps for $109 each

Postby PhilD » Tue Apr 28, 2009 8:38 am

HIDX Off-Road Lamps will be available from Trail Duty shortly.

These are true HID, not just a Xenon filled bulb. They have a built in starter and ballast so there are just two wires to connect.

They draw only 3 amps, so are ideal for prolonged trail use.

The 4" lamps with red trim ring will be available within a week or so, the 4" and 7" lamps with black trim ring will be available in June. Similar lamps have been around for a year or so, but more often than not they were never available.

They currently come with a clear poly stone guard, but a black version will also be available in June for about $10 each.

HIDX 4" Lamp - $109.95

HIDX 7" Lamp - $119.95

I've been running a set of the 7" up front for about a year.. Put them on in place of two 5" 135watt lamps.. It's about a wash on which one puts out the most light.. The HID draw less current and look better up front.. The only edge I'd give the regular lamps was the fact I only gave $25 for a pair rather than the $220 a pair for the HID..

The one thing I'm not to fond of are the clear lens covers.. They don't hold up very well.. They are held on with 4 tabs.. One of them on each lamp broke off the first time I tried pulling them off to clean behind them.. Replacements do NOT exist..
