New H3 owner from Ga.

Postby sherrod833 » Mon Jan 12, 2015 8:39 am

I purchased a used 2008 H3 last week after trying to decide between it and the FJ cruiser. I had a 2004 Avalanche and really wanted to get back to the small suv side but wanted a solid 4 wheel drive. I have been looking around here for the normal problems and complaints, so far looks like I should do pretty good. Just wanted to say hello to everyone.

Congratulations on the H3 and welcome to HXC. What are your plans for the H3 or leaving it stock? Post up some pics when you get a chance.

I want to do a mild lift and run some 33's on it. Trying to get some information on the dual battery tray that I saw on one of the other members H3 Alpha.

Good looking H3. You don't need any lift to run 33s. Adventure equipped H3s came stock with 33s and any H3 can run up to a 35" tire without a lift, just crank the torsion bars up a little. The dual battery tray you saw was probably the Artec Industries, just ordered my the other day. Unfortunately they no longer have the custom tops with H3 cut out.

Which mount did you go with? I was wondering if their mounts are a direct drop in or if it required modification.

I went with their Optima group 25/35 dual tray linked below. Have not received it but don't believe there is any modification needed for it to fit. I must have gotten lucky as these come unfinished but I apparently got the last one black powder coated on clearance for $70 on Thursday.

Let me know if it fits without any modification. I called today but the person I talked with couldn't tell me if it had to be modified or not.

There have been a number of people that have used them and I am not aware of any mods needed. I am not sure how quickly I will get to it but will definitely let you know if there are any. I did get an email from them today. Apparently their inventory was off and they didn't have a powder coated one to ship me which was what was on clearance. Stand up company, they offered the bare steel if I was fine with it or could refund the money. I have no issue with the bare steel and just went wit the powder coated unit because it was on clearance for the same item.
