AZ - Friday 12/26 run

Postby alrock » Mon Dec 22, 2008 12:19 pm

Jerry proposed El Oso Mine for Friday, off of 4 Peaks. Would be a moderate trail, more scenic than technical. Also open to other suggestions. Could be wet as the early forecast is for rain, so keep that in mind!

Erik's also free Thursday and Saturday. I'm out both of those days though Sunday would be doable as well.

Erik also proposed a night run at Sycamore. Heck, these two are the same neighborhood, maybe we do both :D

I have people coming to town for Christmas, so my permission slip has limitations.

So, waddya guys think? Night run at 5:00 for Sycamore? Meet at the Ft. McDowell gas station?

As an extra option, I'd also be up for wheeling around Butcher Jones area. Probably find some good mud :D :D :D . That way we can do a bit more without involving several hours. I'd move up the start to 3:00 or something like that.

The forecast is calling for 2-4" of snow down to 3500 ft, so you guys might even get some snow wheeling in if you go on Friday. It'll definitely be muddy/wet. Should be lots of fun! :)

Okay, it's looking like a day run! How about 10 am Friday at the Ft. McDowell gas station on the Beeline, two miles north of Shea. We'll run El Oso Mine off of 4 Peaks Rd. Hopefully with the elevation we can get some snow.

Currently, semi-confirmed:

What time does Jerry need to be back in the Valley?

I was thinking about the weather and trail conditions, I would almost prefer something other than El Oso Mine. The only problem is I don't know where to go. Sedona might be a great option since there is a 30% chance for rain and snow. New River Canyon (Black Canyon City) has a 30% chance for a few showers or we could run a trail from Camp Verde to Lake Stoneman.

Traditionally we are not required to work the day after Christmas, but I'll know for sure tomorrow.

Checking on Jerry . . .

BTW, I'm heading out on Xmas day, maybe 11:30, to wheel in the rain at Saguaro Lake/Butcher Jones. I have to be home at 3 to be in Tolleson by 4. Good excuse to get out of the house and hopefully find some mud!

I'll be at the Ft. McDowell gas station at 11:30 on Xmas - all are welcome to join.

Jerry S. took one for the team. The tree got in the first hit but a strap, a hatchet and some determination took care of the rest

The part of the trail we didn't tackle. At the top of this area, out of the pic, is a good sheet of ice we didn't want slide across.
