Postby HoleHog » Fri Jul 23, 2010 11:30 pm

I didn't think the Oregon dunes were open to vehicular traffic.

Are you talking about the area around Florence?

The Oregon Dunes is open to vehicle access. I have not been down there, but you will need an Oregon OHV permit and a flag.

I have been to Sand Lake that is up near Tillamook. It is mostly an open play area with a few trails cut between trees. I stayed out in the open so I didn't run into any dirt bikes or atvs on the narrow trails.

Here is more info about the Oregon Dunes

If you are driving through Oregon, you might look at spending some time at Browns Camp. It is in the Tillamook Forest and not too far out of the way from the 101 coast highway. There are a lot of trails to explore, trails are well marked, and maps of the area are available.

I was out a Brown's Camp today and had some trouble wheeling. Not a matter of capability... More of my vehicle's size on trails clearly made and used by Jeep's and other similar vehicles.

Anywhere else you go? Im kinda getting the feeling I may like open range/desert/unimproved road types of driving over the hardcore wheeling.

Thoughts?

I'm heading out to Sand Lake at Pacific City on the Oregon Coast on Tuesday, SEPT 11. I would like to invite anyone interested in meeting me there or heading down with me.

Should be a nice day

I hope I can get at least a few people interested
