Good. Not that I had committed or still can commit yet, but I wouldn't have been able to make it that weekend. I am still trying to work it into my schedule.

So Jeff, to answer your question, I might be able to make it.

We changed the Sunday trail to Sunflower Mine instead of Crown King. My Friday solo run confirmed the rumors that they graded the last two miles of the trail, removing some of the most fun parts.

Sunflower Mine is on Hwy 87 NE of Phoenix and Scottsdale, north of Fountain Hills. It's a great trail with nice obstacles of rock gardens, creek beds, hill climbs and great scenery. This trail was originally in contention for this event and has now moved up in importance.

Obviously hard to tell where the hotel is but you'd be fine. You should meet us in Oracle on Saturday morning then stay in Phoenix Sat night. Downtown would be about 30 minutes or so from wherever we'll meet for the Sunday run. Hope you can make it!

How many trucks do you have confirmed?

Actually, I don't know. I was going to start confirming in about ten days. We had several confirmed for the 6th/7th but I have not heard back from them since the date change. I would estimate that there are six confirmed/very likely trucks, with another six maybes.

I will make the Sunflower mine run and still not sure about Charouleau Gap. So add 1 H4 (Chevy/Jeep) with tow strap.

So, Todd and I were talking the other day about this run, and decided to throw an idea out there. We kinda like going to Crown King and getting food after the run, so we were thinking about seeing if you all wanted to change it to a Crown King/Sunflower Mine run. Tonight, as I prepared to post up here, I got to thinking about how the road has been graded to the point where it isn't as much fun anymore, but at the same time the scenery is nice. Then an alternative occurred to me...

Instead of running Charoleau's Gap on Saturday, what about running DeSoto mine from Cleator to Senator highway, and returning through Crown King so we can stop at The Mill and have a tasty steak Image. Then we can run Sunflower Mine on Sunday.

Thoughts?

Thinking . . . that'll get a man in trouble. :D

I agree on the meal thing, that it's great to sit down as a group and have that dinner. With the Gap, we can still achieve that dinner in Ahwahtukee, though that'd be about 90 minutes after the trail. I haven't run DeSoto Mine so I don't know the trail. We definitely want something that has a challenge like Charouleau Gap and worthwhile for the out of state guests that we're going to have. We have some tentatives from Cali and TX so I want to make sure we've got our best runs planned.

Pause. . . .
Okay, I checked out a few pics of Desoto - it is too gnarly of a trail? Looks like a step or two harder than the Gap or CK. I would also want to do a pre-run before we make a decision.

Desoto seems about the same as the Gap to me.... maybe just a tad more difficult in a couple spots. I know stock jeeps with 33's can make it through fine... you telling me you can't do what a Jeep can do??

So, when do you want to prerun it?
