Anza Borrego Coyote Creek Trail

Postby H3-ING » Tue Mar 22, 2011 10:33 am

Went up Coyote Creek Trail for an overnight camp at Sheep Heads Canyon on Saturday with Josh and the boys.
The weather was excellent, the vegetation was in bloom. The hiking up the creek to the Palm Oasis great.
Now for the trail report.
As many of us in SoCal have run this many times I have to to say that the rock gardens after the stream crossing have been destroyed. A bull dozer has pushed/filled in and removed most rocks. It now looks like a cobblestone road. :x I went up and down in 4 Hi where in the past 4 low was a must. In fact some 2 wheel drive vehicles can now get up there since we passed a 2 wheel drive bronco making its way down.
Sorry for the bummer trail report :(

Not again. They did that a couple of years ago and it was finally getting good again. How were the water crossings?

Seth,
Water still flowing normally about top of rocker/ lower door jam.
It's the biggest deterent now keeping the canyon from becoming a parking lot.
